The EU's isolation policy in the Mediterranean continues to intensify. It is causing suffering and death and is forcing people onto new, even more dangerous escape routes. We will not stand idly by and watch this happen — and are sending our first alliance aircraft, the Seabird 3!
Aircraft have been an important part of civilian sea rescue for years: they spot distress at sea and call for help, document human rights violations and help to better understand migration routes. The Seabird 3 is therefore an important addition to the existing fleet.

What happens to my donation for our alliance aircraft?
Your donation will support the purchase of our first alliance aircraft, the Seabird 3. The aircraft is urgently needed and is due to go into service in spring 2025. Your donation will definitely help to save lives in distress at sea, document human rights violations and better understand migration routes.
The Seabird 3 will be United4Rescue's first alliance aircraft and will remain in our alliance fleet.
If we receive more donations than are necessary to finance the aircraft, we will use the donations for similar purposes.
When and how do I receive a donation receipt?
You will receive your donation receipt in February 2026 as an annual donation receipt. To issue this receipt, we need your postal address. To save costs and protect the environment, we send donation receipts via email with a secure link that leads to your receipt as a PDF document. How else can I help?
You can help Seabird 3, our alliance aircraft, a great deal by telling others about the fundraising campaign and encouraging them to get involved: Tell your friends, your family, colleagues, people in your football club or in your parish. You can also run a local campaign until Easter to collect donations for the purchase of the alliance aircraft or share information about the campaign on your social networks. Every contribution helps.
What are the advantages of the alliance aircraft?
The Seabird 3 is a particularly light, efficient propeller aircraft with a long range and optimum visibility of the sea — ideal for search and documenation flights. It can also be refuelled with paraffin, which is available worldwide, making it particularly flexible in use.
How do aircraft help with sea rescues?
Aircraft assist in the rescue of people in distress at sea from the air. The crews use binoculars and cameras to search for boats and alert the relevant authorities. They also document human rights violations by taking photos and videos to record any failure to provide assistance or illegal refoulement. Comprehensive observations also help to understand migration routes.
How much does the Seabird 3 cost?
The purchase price of the Seabird 3 is 590,000 euro. A large part has already been raised through crowdfunding and loans, but 170,000 euro are still missing. Let's collect this sum by Easter. Every donation helps!
